Salou is one of those special places that you discover and forever remains in your heart. I myself found this out when my kids were really young and a last minute booking took us to the Costa Dorada coast just over an hours drive from the City of Barcelona.
Everything I needed to entertain my kids was there, Id won the jackpot. Sun, sea, sand, great hotels & value for money is what needed to wash away the winter blues
The beach in Salou stretches for miles and is spotless. Its soft white sand feels good and the beach for children is safe with lifeguards on duty.
Salou, on the Costa Dorada, nestles between quaint Cambrils and calm La Pineda. Just seven miles south of elegant Tarragona, the compact resort town is a family favourite, due in no small part to the existence of Port Aventura and Aquopolis theme parks.
Salou offers great value for money and a holiday with everything you look for in a destination. Not only is it for families but couples also have the romantic experience in hotels that are child free. Whatever you choose and whatever your budget, Salou is the ideal location for it all. There is a huge amount of hotels which will cater to everyone's needs and some of them offer an aparthotel board basis which gives you the luxury of a hotel and its facilities with the added bonus of a self catering facility which may be ideal for families who prefer to have this freedom.
There is also an abundance of air B&B's and villas for rental which is ideal for the larger family adventure. The world is your oyster when choosing Salou for your next holiday. From dusk to dawn, seven days a week, Salou will offer its guests a holiday of a lifetime without breaking the bank
Whether you create your own trip or book an organised excursion you can be rest assured that the service you will receive will be second to none.
Public transport in Salou is clean and very punctual. There are buses from Salou which will take you directly to other towns and cities in the area for a few euros. Tarragona is about a 20 minute bus ride and at a cost of 2 euros it is an adventure not to be missed. Tarragona itself is a shopping heaven and has a huge shopping mall a two minute walk from the bus station and has a Primark store for those of you searching for that last minute bikini. The cathedral is an amazing building as is the ancient ruins amongst other beautiful places of interest. Do check it out when you visit Salou.
Don't forget the weekly markets where you can get yourself a bargain leather handbag or the latest fashions. Don't forget to haggle, but be realistic and you can surely get the bargain you like.
